It was a very hot day. It felt very hot, but ironically it rained in the morning. In the morning, we first went to a temple. Then we went to the palace where the king and queen avoid the summer heat. After having Cantonese food, we went to a umbrella factory and our final destination today was the train station. After we left the Xia Palace, we as in our whole 9E group, went to decorate the paper umbrella. The paper umbrella was originally not for blocking the rain, but the umbrella could be used for blocking the sun. The umbrella that they prepared, the one we used, was very small. It was about ten times smaller than the original umbrella. The people at the umbrella factory had already prepared all the supplies that we needed. They prepared the small umbrellas, paint, and the paint brushes. At first, there was a teacher beside us mixing the paint, and then we started to paint the mini umbrella. We painted our umbrella for about an hour and later we finished up the work. Then we packed up to leave for the train station. When we left for the train station we went on to the train and felt the cool conditioned air. Later Sam and I went to buy something to eat and found out that the things sold in the station were very expensive.

The state railway of Thailand is like a moving hotel less than 3 stars on the railway, just like its name. The activities that we could do on the train were few, so it was hard for me to get used to it. We had to keep our voices low almost all the time, so we tried not to bother other people staying next to us on the train. There was also one really tricky part of the tables. The tables were all hidden under our seats and not easy to notice. The worst part was that our dinner had no meat in. However, there was one interesting thing on this train---sleeping on the train. That was the only fun part I could tell. Also, you got to watch out because there was no plug at all for our cell phones or computers to charge. I just hope that I could get it through while staying on the train for 13 hours, but people say that the train is slow and seldom get to the destination on time. By the way, the toilet smelled bad, so I tried not to think about the word “shower”.
