For anyone visiting Thailand, one sight that you can’t miss is the “Maetaeng Elephant Camp.” A fantastic show ignited the spark for the rest of the day, with the elephants offering a series of brilliant tricks of all kinds such as drawing and dancing or even sports like soccer and basketball. Following on, is the much anticipated elephant riding. At first, we have expected a much comfortable and smooth journey, however it had resulted in a bumpy and jittery ride across rivers, jungles, and hills. It was a once in a lifetime experience that you really don’t want to miss.

After finishing lunch and fully replenishing our energy, the time to literally hit the waters in a white water raft journey down the river has dawned upon us. Driving along the brown muddy waters caused the rising of our excitement. The coaches taught us the positions and commands for the rafting, and we, the courageous students marched onto the raft in groups of six, prepared to take the waves up front. The raft slowly left the dock, flowing forward at a steady pace. The flat, peaceful river quickly turned into wild, raging waters, swallowing every student on the rafts, but each and every one of us held on and marched on. Upon our arrival at the dock, the disappointment of how quickly the journey had ended can be seen on our faces.

The following stop, the Longneck Tribe. Along the flight of stairs, we see numerous little girls holding handmade accessories, shouting in Mandarin “10 Bahts!” It was an emotional moment, and without hesitation, we took out our wallets and bought the bracelets they had for offer.

The Khantoke Dinner amazed us even more. Out of the world decorations, heart-warming waiters, and fantastic dishes, we couldn’t help but let out some drool. It was as if we were stone aged people, transported to the 21st century. Everything just blew our mind away. After an extremely satisfying (and bug-filled) meal, we enjoyed the traditional dance and performances. Among the performances, the sword dance absolutely took our breath away. Our day ended with a show of sky lanterns. The bright lanterns carried away by the wind and slowly disappearing out of sight was truly a magnificent sight to see.
